Spread some love with these home-made heart shaped eggs. Easy to make and simply adorable, they will be the superstars of your Valentine's or Easter breakfast.

These adorable heart-shaped eggs make me think of fluffy bunnies hopping through dewy grass, chirping birdies, warming sunshine and good old low carb love.
Plus, they are a fun way to enjoy a protein-packed breakfast or snack.
I discovered the idea whilst browsing on youtube and was just totally smitten.
The idea of heart shaped eggs is from Japan. The Japanese have probably been spreading love with heart shaped eggs for centuries. I say, it's time for some ah's and oh's at your breakfast table as well!
Equipment
This is what you need to make heart shaped boiled eggs:
- 1 hard-boiled egg
- Piece of carton or cardboard
- Round chopstick or skewer
- 2 rubber bands

Instructions
- Cut the carton into a rectangle and fold in half. Check the size - it should cover the sides of the egg
- Make a hard boiled egg. I cooked mine for 9 minutes.
- Peel the egg while it is still hot and place it in the folded carton.
- Place a chopstick or a skewer on the middle of the egg and press down.
- Secure the ends with rubber bands.
- Leave to cool.
- After about 10 minutes remove the egg and cut in half.
Serving suggestion
- Make the egg halves the centrepiece of a large salad.
- Serve with toast - I like this easy 90 second keto bread.
- Heart shaped devilled eggs - Scoop out the yolks and mix with keto mayonnaise and seasonings of choice.

Good day to you. I am always looking for new keto and diabetic friendly snacks for my dad. He is not in the best of health with diabetes, stage 4 kidney disease, enlarged heart and Reynolds disease. He suffers constantly and when he is trying to diet he struggles as he can't exercise like he used to. His big problem with snacks are bread and cheese and biscuits. I am a baker but I'm running out of ideas! Please help,โโ๏ธ Thank you, kind regards Emma x

Hi Emma, I have so many recipes you dad would like. In my recipe index, which is linked at the top of my homepage, you can find all categories on my blog. Take a look at the cookies category, or the snacks category. I love baking too, and use low carb flours and zero carb sweeteners.

Love this idea! My grandchildren are coming round this afternoon, and I've got this planned as a little crafts project. should be fun! Thank you for the inspiration.
